Whole Foods unveils new distribution center

A year-long state-wide investigation uncovered widespread pricing violations by Whole Foods in California.

The problems included:

  • Failing to deduct the weight of containers when cashing out self-serve foods at the salad or hot bar.
  • Selling products that contained less product than the weight indicated on the package.
  • Selling items by piece as opposed to selling them by the pound as is required by law.

Under the order issued by city attorneys of Los Angeles, Whole Foods has agreed to two state co-ordinators to oversee pricing accuracy at its stores throughout California. The company will also designate an employee at each store to ensure pricing accuracy throughout his/her store. Whole Foods is now required to conduct random audits of all its stores four times a year to make sure all its prices are accurate and none of the above mentioned problems are recurring.
